In Ostuni, Italy now :)

I'm in the south of Italy now, Rome was nice but very made me very tired, not easy to walk around for a day with the suitcase..., now i'm in a place called Ostuni, that is in south of Italy. Above is the sun today, two very big sunspots moving from left to right, I have been looking at this every day for last 3days. You can see it too if you click on the link on the right side of my blog. I will be posting my photos soon on flickr.com from this vacation, not taken a vacation for over two years..., cheers

pinhole is great

Busy right now making my own pinhole camera. I build it around 4x5inch Sinar film holder that was collecting some dust. Have been looking at pinhole photos these last years along with the alternative photographic method, but never had the courage yet to make my own camera, but now I am doing it for real. I will try out the camera this weekend, using some old Tri-x sheet films that want to be used before they get out of date. Out of date films could make some nice photos too thought.
I am using wood for my camera, could have made it out of carton but wanted do make a box that I do not have to fix all the time and that I can use for long time and also if it rains. Working out the box, painting it black on the inside with triple matt painting so there is no danger of fogging the film by reflection of light, then on the outside some nice dark oak varnish to protect the wood.
Only problem is the shutter, I will use a black tape for the moment until I figure out to make a nice shutter out of wood. Been looking on the web and noticed that interest in pinhole photography has increased a lot, that is good. Some great photos on Flicr, realy state of the art pinhole photography some of them.
See HERE.
Well, back to building my first pinhole camera :-)

Been reading and reading....

So, you see that I am a lazy writer and a average reader. Been reading, drinking tea from my chinese two liter thermos, good way to loose weight if you hardly move faster than walking. Not into sport anyway, why move to fast when one can move slow?
Read the latest book of Kathy Reichs, "Cross Bones"(in english), not bad, good start for going out of the serial killer wave, every one is tired about serial killers now. Been written enough about them these last 15 years, now we are few years into, historic/religion mode, if we do not to Umberto Eco.
Found another intersting author yesterday, Matt Ruff. Never heard about his book "Fool on the Hill", but no wonder since I live in my own universe. Back to Matt Ruff, his "Set This House in Order" (french translation) is very interesting if not to say more and welcome change to the many other book's by other authors that seem to be into copy plotting each other. Matt Ruff there writes about multiple personal disorder, (it's not schizophrenia) good to read authors that are into some creative writing like Matt Ruff. Not that I am passing on a hard critic on writers in general, writing a book is hard work and research and it is difficult to write a book that can stand out and get to an editor and actually all the way into a bookshop.... Many are called, but feew are chosen, even Van Gogh only sold one or two paintings, I have sold about ten painting at the most since 1982. But that is hardly surprising since I have always been into painting other better idea on top of older paintings until the canvas becomes to heavy to move around. Well, harder to steal them then won't it? Make a great fire also, all that oil paint and newspaper and suff.
Read "The Lion's Game" by Nelson Demille (in french), not bad idea the plot in light of being written before 9/11.
Oh, yeah, read the latest Patricia Cornwell book, "Predator" (in english), she is still hard into the serialkiller plot, looking forward to read her comming up novel next may, "At Risk".
Otherwise I am reading the biography of Modigliani (in french) and another about Caravaggio (in italian). For the EVP I recording getting some sounds that sound like words, difficult to understand, needs a lot of patience from both sides I think before I get something I can post on this page as a sound file so you dear reader that stumble on my page can listen and tell me what you think.
Happy Easters, or long and happy life.

Hm, EVP, what is that?

Came across interesting information on the internet,

about EVP, its so interesting that I am going to try it out. I have always been curious about radio, used to spend hours turning the dial of my grandfather old radio when I was a kid, I was interested in all the different languages and far away places. I still own a shortwave radio and look for different radio stations, if we can now record voices that talk to us, well its worth the try to make contact if its possible. Who knows, maby someone on the other side wants to talk. With all respect to the ones that go on living after leaving this world.
